The information platform "finance.swiss", which is also the name of the internet address (www.finance.swiss), is intended to serve as a single point of contact for information on the Swiss financial centre, to increase awareness of its strengths and to act as a basis for greater promotional activities abroad. The provision of more information abroad about the Swiss financial centre is one of the objectives of the new financial market policy presented by the Federal Council on 4 December 2020. Competing financial centres have been operating similar information platforms with their authorities and financial market players for some time.
At the federal authority level, the portal is coordinated by the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF) and Presence Switzerland, the FDFA unit responsible for communication abroad. The Swiss Bankers Association, the Asset Management Association, the financial market infrastructure operator SIX, Zurich Insurance Group and the reinsurer Swiss Re are all involved on the financial sector side.
The sector is contributing CHF 1 million to the project, spread over five years. There are no financial contributions from the Confederation, which is instead providing know-how and existing human resources.
