The Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs travels to Austria on his first Official Visit

Faithful to tradition, the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Didier Burkhalter, will travel to Austria on 19 January for his first official visit abroad. He will be meeting with Mr. Michael Spindelegger, Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, for a working visit.

The objective of this visit is to establish a first contact with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, with which Switzerland enjoys excellent relations. The two countries work closely together in a number of domains, including cooperation in consular affairs, energy issues, projects of development cooperation, and within the frame of various international organizations. 

The meeting between the two ministers will also provide an opportunity to discuss bilateral issues, European policy, and topics of current international interest.
