Global Measurement of Diet Quality

01.12.2018 - 31.12.2025

Diets are the number one risk factor in the global burden of disease and multiple forms of malnutrition co-exist with overweight and obesity being the fastest growing form, particularly among poor populations in developing countries. Routinely collected information on Diet Quality is necessary to better understand dietary trends, help to create awareness, and inform policies to improve diets and health outcomes. Therefore, SDC supports an international initiative to develop diet quality measurements.

01.12.2018 - 31.12.2021

Poor diets - too little food, too much food, or the wrong combinations of foods - are the number-one risk factor for ill health. What people eat depends on what is available on the market as well as accessible, affordable and desirable to consume. SDC supports the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, a Swiss-based foundation, in facilitating the voluntary engagement of businesses in low and middle income countries to improve the consumption of nutritious and healthy foods, particularly among the vulnerable and poor.

Innovations for efficient quality health systems

01.12.2018 - 31.12.2026

Despite enormous progress in access to healthcare in low and middle-income countries, nearly 9 million people still die every year in these countries because of poor quality of care. SDC supports the establishment of a global design lab for the development of innovative tools to enhance quality measurements that form the base for cost-effective investments into quality improvements. The lab will benefit from Swiss research knowhow.

01.11.2018 - 31.10.2020

Switzerland has supported Moldova in developing its youth friendly health services (YFHSs) and scaling them up to cover the entire country. The improved access to quality healthcare led to better health outcomes in adolescents, such as decreased alcohol use and incidence of sexually transmitted infections. The two-year exit phase of this project will focus on ensuring the sustainability of YFHSs and transferring the responsibility for matching the supply and demand for such services to relevant national and local institutions.

« Appui aux districts sanitaires au Tchad »

01.11.2018 - 31.12.2022

Contribution to the International AIDS Society Educational Fund Programme

01.11.2018 - 31.08.2020

Significant yet insufficient progress has been made in the HIV/AIDS response. The body of evidence is large and tools are available but they are not fast enough disseminated, contextualized and included into national policies and programmes. The Educational Fund addresses this by offering countries different tailor-made modules. Through Swiss support, the programme will increasingly embed HIV/AIDS into a broader health response.

Start-ups and social enterprises for global health

01.11.2018 - 31.12.2022

The initiative strives to tap the potential of start-up companies in these countries to improve health. The Swiss Impact Hubs in Geneva and Basel aim to support and connect start-ups with potential for scale with major healthcare industry and financial investors.
