La educación básica y la formación profesional

Una buena educación constituye la base del desarrollo personal de todo individuo, y del desarrollo social y económico de toda sociedad. La educación contribuye a reducir la pobreza y la desigualdad, y a estimular el crecimiento económico. La COSUDE persigue el objetivo de una educación de calidad accesible en todas las etapas de la vida mediante su intervención en dos áreas prioritarias: la educación básica y la formación profesional.

La educación es esencial para generar un desarrollo sostenible basado en la cohesión social y la paz en cualquier sociedad. El objetivo de lograr una educación de alta calidad y accesible, sin discriminación alguna, en todas las etapas de la vida es el objetivo 4 en la lista de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la Agenda 2030. Ese objetivo es –junto al de lograr un trabajo decente para todos en un contexto de crecimiento económico sostenible, y al de erradicar la pobreza– fundamental en el compromiso de la COSUDE en materia de educación.

Como vector de concienciación, la educación también puede ayudar a mejorar las prácticas sanitarias, a defender la idea de una producción agrícola responsable, e incluso a sensibilizar a la población sobre los efectos del cambio climático.

Hay una verdadera necesidad de mejorar los sistemas educativos de muchos países en desarrollo y en transición. Igualmente indispensable es garantizar el acceso a la educación en los llamados contextos “frágiles”, en que las desigualdades tienden a profundizarse.

En el ámbito de la educación, la COSUDE está implicada en el desarrollo de ofertas de alta calidad en la formación básica y en la formación profesional. Para la COSUDE estos dos elementos están interrelacionados y son complementarios, y no lo son solo desde un punto de vista lineal del aprendizaje. En ciertos casos, en función de las necesidades y contextos, resulta beneficioso que los módulos de educación básica y de formación profesional se impartan de forma simultánea, a fin de brindar a los jóvenes el máximo de oportunidades posible para que se integren profesionalmente disponiendo de una buena base de competencias básicas.

La mejora de las oportunidades educativas en los países en desarrollo y en transición es una prioridad para la cooperación internacional de Suiza en los años venideros. 

Educación básica

La COSUDE promueve una educación básica adaptada a las necesidades de las poblaciones, que sea de alta calidad y accesible para el mayor número posible de personas. Para lograrlo, acompaña a varios países contraparte en la reforma de sus sistemas educativos.

Formación profesional

Trabajar con las autoridades públicas y con el sector privado permite crear ofertas de formación adaptadas a las necesidades del mercado. De este modo, un mayor número de jóvenes puede encontrar un trabajo decente y contribuir al desarrollo de su país.

Programme Régional d’Education et formation des Populations Pastorales en zones transfrontalières (PREPP)

L’insécurité ainsi que les tensions entre éleveurs et agriculteurs se sont accrues en Afrique de l’Ouest. Une éducation de base de qualité et formation professionnelle adaptées sont des vecteurs de cohésion sociale et de perspectives économiques, constituant des remparts à la violence, surtout pour les jeunes. Le Programme Régional d’Education et formation des Populations Pastorales (PREPP) agit sur ces enjeux.  Il vise aussi à ce que les politiques nationales et sous régionales intègrent ces dimensions de paix et de durabilité.


Skateistan

Skateistan offers quality educational, sport and recreational opportunities for the empowerment of Afghan children and youth, particularly girls and marginalized groups, with an aim to increase their confidence, abilities and involvement in their communities as well as to strengthen their social networks. It runs across two purpose-built project sites in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif.


Medical Education Reforms in Kyrgyzstan

Although health sector reforms have prioritised family medicine, the medical education system continues to prepare narrow specialists, leading to a shortage of family doctors mainly in rural areas. The Ministry of Health initiated the medical education reforms with focus on family doctors specialty at pregraduate level and compulsory postgraduate clinical practice in the regions. Phase II of the project will finalize the medical education reform implementation process with focus on postgraduate and continuous medical education.


Formación técnica profesional

Vocational skills development is key for improving production and expanding opportunities for employment and self-employment. The project aims to reduce poverty and inequality by enhancing access to the labour market. It seeks to strengthen vocational skills and certify competences with an emphasis on young people and adults, promote the quality of training centres, and the shared responsibility of public/private stakeholders. Strategies cover both the national and the local level.


Skills for Employment Tanzania – SET

01.03.2017 - 30.06.2022

SET seeks to enhance youth (self) employment by improving the Vocational Skills Development (VSD) system. It will support public and private stakeholders to expand access to quality training that matches the demand from both the economy and youth, in particular women, including young mothers. Key elements from the Swiss VSD model will be emphasized: the coordination between skills providers and private sector, practical training and innovation.


CERAH Core Contributions 2017-2020

CERAH’s mission aims at enhancing the capacity of individual and institutional humanitarian actors to devise and bring relevant, adapted and timely responses to the plight of populations affected by armed conflict, disasters or social exclusion. To that end, it aims at strengthening the competencies of humanitarian professionals through internationally recognized education and training, at improving humanitarian responses through critical research of humanitarian concepts, policies and practices and to stimulate debate on selected humanitarian issues to further critical and innovative thinking. This project aims at furthering systematization and professionalization of humanitarian activities and actors, with the stated goal to make the humanitarian sector more coherent and accountable.


Educational facilities for the Internally Displaced and street children

The internally displaced youth living often as street children in the low-income neighbourhoods of the capital city Islamabad and are deprived from basic education and protection services. The Mashal school educates IDP children from all over the country with a majority from KP and FATA, offers them a protective space, advises / counsels them on cultural, social and legal issues and help them to register under the government system by that laying the basis for future livelihood possibilities.


Support to Village Councils in the West Bank with a focus on Area C

SDC will support local government units to improve the delivery of basic services in marginalized rural areas of the West Bank with a focus on Area C. This intervention is consistent with the State-building agenda which forms the basis for SDC development programme in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), the promotion of human rights/international humanitarian law and the alleviation of poverty. It is aligned to the Palestinian Authority’s policy framework for Area C. Its operating modalities are harmonized with like-minded donors in the local governance sector.


Ecuador, Technical Support in Earthquake Resistant Reconstruction

An earthquake of the magnitude of 7.8 (Richter scale) hit Northern Ecuador, on 16 April 2016. Damages were widespread, collapsing structures within hundreds of km’s from the epicenter. Following SDC/HA’s emergency and early recovery interventions, SHA will provide the Ecuadorian government with technical support in capacity building on earthquake resistant construction, capitalizing SDC’s experiences from Pakistan and Haiti.


Vocational Skills Development in Macedonia

Macedonia has one of the highest unemployment rates in Europe (25%), especially among youth (48%). One of the key factors for youth unemployment is that the education and training system does not provide skills needed by the economy. The Vocational Skills Development project aims to address youth unemployment through supporting market relevant skills development by strengthening the engagement of the private sector (e.g. through systematised internships), thus increasing the employability of vocational training graduates.



Water Security in the Middle East (Blue Peace)

In the Middle East, the increasingly precarious situation of water resources demands stronger regional cooperation than ever before. Set against this background, the Blue Peace approach aims at contributing to peace building through combined political and technical dialogues, which are substantiated in concrete regional projects and direct impact activities on the ground. Together with the Strategic Foresight Group (SFG) and local partners from academia, international organisations, civil society and private sector, SDC is able to promote policy and concrete solutions for sustainable development serving those threatened by water scarcity and conflict.
