The Statistics Unit is responsible for compiling and publishing data on Switzerland’s official development assistance (ODA) and private flows. In this capacity, it gathers, processes and disseminates detailed data on ODA and development cooperation provided by Swiss NGOs. It has a database to assure the production of the statistics and various publications as well as archiving of historical series. The Unit is also charged with communicating statistics on international cooperation and other quantitative information for the attention of the Federal administration, Parliament and the public.
The Statistical Unit is Switzerland’s statistical correspondent to the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and takes part in the activities to define and report all financial flows linked to development. It also participates in initiatives to enhance the transparency and promote the quality of international data, for example, the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI).
