South Cooperation Department
The South Cooperation Department finances development projects in priority countries and regions in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. A staff unit supports its activities. The five operational divisions it comprises are supported by specialists in their fields and multilateral experts.
Through their thematic networks (basic education, economy and employment promotion including vocational education and training, conflict prevention and human rights, gender equality, poverty reduction), these divisions strengthen their expertise and promote dialogue and the exchange of experiences with other actors. They are also responsible for relations with the African, Asian and Inter-American development banks.
The Quality Assurance and Poverty Reduction Section as well as the Development Effectiveness Advisor, that are part of the South Cooperation Department, provide support and expertise to the management and the four departments of the SDC.
