COVID-19 Information

Information about travel to Switzerland

Entry restrictions still apply to US citizens and residents in the USA. 

The Swiss government will decide on June 23, 2021 if and under which conditions US tourists and visitors may be authorized to enter Switzerland again. The changes would take effect on June 28, 2021.

Information about negative COVID test and QUARANTINE for authorized entry to Switzerland

Travelers arriving in Switzerland from the USA do not have to go into quarantine (FOPH).

Mandatory for all airline passengers travelling from the USA to Switzerland:

  • Present valid proof of a negative PCR test, taken no more than 72 hours (time of specimen collection) before departure. Children under the age of 16 as well as fully vaccinated and coronavirus recovered travelers (within the last six months) are exempt from the test requirement.   • Electronic form for incoming travelers; exceptions for  fully vaccinated and coronavirus recovered travelers (within the last six months)

Information for Swiss citizens

The Federal Council recommends to avoid non-urgent foreign travel whenever possible.

Swiss citizens must travel with a valid Swiss passport in order to enter Switzerland. Dual citizens should be aware that U.S. citizens are required by law to enter and leave the United States with a U.S. passport.
