The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs urges all Swiss citizens in Syria to leave the country now, as long as commercial transportation is still available.

Stay informed through TV, Radio and Internet about new developments. Remain sceptical about rumours that might circulate and that are often inaccurate and flawed.

On February 29, 2012 the Swiss Embassy in Damascus has been closed.

The Consular Section at the Swiss Embassy in Damascus is closed and the services transferred to the Visa Offices of the Swiss Embassies in Beirut and Amman. No new visa applications will be accepted.
