Vacancy Announcement – Science Counselor

The Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore, together with the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, is currently looking for a full-time Science Counselor.

The Embassy of Switzerland represents the Swiss Government in Singapore. The embassy’s objective is to foster the bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on political, financial, economic and defense ties, as well as the promotion of exchanges in education, research, innovation, trade and tourism. As part of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) is the federal agency specializing in national and international matters pertaining to Switzerland's vocational and higher education, research, innovation policy as well as space affairs. SERI’s global network connecting the dots in education, research, and innovation is called swissnex. Its mission is to support the outreach and active engagement of partners in the international exchange of knowledge, ideas and talent.

As Science Counselor at the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore, you are embedded in the diplomatic section of the embassy and at the same time form part of the global swissnex network. Your mission consists of promoting and strengthening bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Switzerland in the domains of education, research and innovation. This implies bringing together stakeholders, looking after visiting delegations, reporting about developments and trends, and building upon the network of relations with local ministries, agencies, scientific institutions and start-ups.

You would be working under a local staff contract reflecting local market conditions. Starting date is beginning or end of March 2020 (to be confirmed).
