Switzerland continues to invest in digital development of Serbia

During the official visit to the Republic of Serbia on the occasion of the launch of the new strategic cycle of development cooperation between Switzerland and Serbia, high representatives from Berne, H.E. Ambassador Ruth Huber, Assistant Director General of the Swiss Development Assistance and Director of the Department for Cooperation with Eastern Europe and Ivo Germann, Director of the Economic Cooperation and Development Sector representing the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs, met with the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić.

Successful launch of the Swiss Strategy at Dorcol Platz

The launching ceremony of the new Cooperation Strategy Serbia 2018-2021 was held on Thursday, April 19th in Belgrade. Numerous representatives from Government of the Republic of Serbia, donor community, diplomacy, civil society, business and media were among guests in the crowded Dorćol Platz hall. Distinguished representatives of the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation participated in two panel discussions where they talked about the Swiss-Serbian bilateral cooperation, results that were achieved so far and plans for the next four years. A short movie about some of program beneficiaries and their achievements through Swiss bilateral support was presented, followed by the short presentation of the strategic document. The Strategy launch was created both as formal and informal event, accompanied by music program and social gathering of the Swiss and Serbian cooperation partners.

Swiss Cooperation Office in Serbia in collaboration with the Mikser Festival has organised a photo contest “New Perspectives”. The aim of the contest was to visually present a vision that young people in Serbia have for the future. The Mikser Festival 2017 focused on establishing new relationships between the urban environment, society, art, nature and technology to form four main festival topics – migration, education in motion, the factory of culture, nature of the city.

Youth in Kragujevac, who are looking for jobs, as well as companies that are in need of  training programs for their development, can benefit of the four years long Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) program „Znanjem do posla“ (From Education to Employment) as to ease the access to modern methods of vocational skills development. In five pilot municipalities in Serbia, the Program will provide to youth  free access to vocational skills development programs required by the companies, gain first working experience and that way increase their chances to get a job. The companies will be in a position to receive expert support as to develop modern vocational skills development programs for their employees in order to have qualified work force as one of the key preconditions for further business development.
