Modernisation of road border crossing in the Podlaskie voivodeship (Połowce)

Poland has one of the longest Schengen external borders of the EU, measuring nearly 1200kilometres. An efficient, functional eastern Schengen border is not only important for Poland and the EU, but also for Switzerland’s security. That is why, as part of the enlargement contribution, Switzerland is investing in modern infrastructure that facilitates well-functioning customs clearance at strategically important border crossings on the Polish-Belarusian border. The project finances the construction of a new road border crossing in Połowce, adjusted to the national and EU-norms and regulations.

Biomass Cogeneration Plant in Lebork

The city of Lebork with its 35'000 inhabitants is located in the Pomorskie Voivodship in Northern Poland. The Pomorskie Voivodship, with its vast forests, has an important potential for the exploitation of renewable energy sources in general and biomass in particular. Today, energy demand is covered by coal. The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to increase health and living conditions in the city of Lebork by introducing a biomass based heat and power plant to supply base load heat and electricity to the city’s district heating system.

Diesel Units for the Railway Line Malbork - Grudziadz

The main aim of the project is to improve the public passenger railway transport system between the cities of Malbork and Grudziadz (railway line Torun Wschodni – Malbork), predominantly located in the Pomorskie Voivodship, by purchasing modern rolling stock. This aim will be achieved by procuring four light rail diesel units of the latest technology, which will be operated by a private carrier on the basis of a concession agreement.
