The band Menschenstoff uses improvisation and Neue Musik but also Musique concrète, Industrial and Noise to create a unique laboratorium that brings together extraordinary soundscapes and conceptual ideas. They play the harpe, carbon-cello, drums and electronics to originate a new style of music.

After we had already been working with the Karl Seglem & Christoph Stiefel Group about 5 years ago at the Jazz Festival Molde (NO) 2x with Monsterjazz performed, we are now for the summer 2019 at two other, very renowned jazz festivals in Norway, we have invited our unique, interactive children's jazz program "Monsterjazz" to play : am Kongsberg Jazz Festival and Oslo Jazz Festival.

The Swiss artist Dieter Roth lived in the small town of Seyðisfjörður, on the east coast of
Iceland during the latter period of his life. During this time he created a slide installation,
which was a form of portrait of the town. For 2019 Skaftfell will re-stage this work in the
building where it was first shown, and consider the relationship between its local relevance
and its place within a wider art historical context, as well as exploring Roth's legacy within
present day contemporary art.

PORTA CHIUSA part one is an interdisciplinary performance that combines two film projections, a spoken-word text, and a live musical performance. It is based on the conflict that we are experiencing at the beginning of the 21st century, namely that of a world built upon national states, in which people are still not treated equally; in which we still speak about color and race; in which nutrition, health and access to education are still greatly conditioned by hierarchal classification. The main theme underlining the performance is the conflict between the “recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,” (Declaration of Human Rights from December 10th, 1948) and the fact that this dignity is increasingly violated.

"Some pianists approach the instrument like it's a cathedral-Sylvie Courvoisier sometimes treats it like a playground," observes Kevin Whitehead aptly in the liner notes to D'Agala (Intakt), the latest album by the Sylvie Courvoisier Trio. "In two minutes, she covers more ground than some pianists get to in a set." He goes on to compare the venturesome interaction of this trio with a pioneering jazz icon from the 1950s: "There is something Herbie Nichols-like about the Courvoisier-Gress-Wollesen trio's feel: collective music-making as light-on-its-feet fun; a genuine trio music in which bass and drums are full partners with piano."
That striking cohesion and collective sense of play are what mark the Swiss pianist and her esteemed American rhythm mates as kindred spirits in the areas of color, groove and melody. The group's European tour in April-May 2018 celebrates the January release of D'Agala. Courvoisier, who has been a fixture on the New York scene for nearly 20 years, released her first album with Gress and Wollesen in 2014, when Double Windsor (Tzadik) was named Album of the Year by both Slate and New York City Jazz Record, along with receiving the "CHOC" from Jazz Magazine and Jazzman in France.
Beyond the trio, Courvoisier earned renown for balancing two distinct worlds- the richly detailed depth of her European chamber-music roots and the grooving, hook-laden sounds of the downtown New York jazz scene. Her long partnership with violinist Mark Feldman - acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic - has resulted in a seemingly telepathic duo, as well as a quartet. Courvoisier has worked with a who's who in avant-jazz, including John Zorn, Wadada Leo Smith, Evan Parker, Ikue Mori, Ellery Eskelin, Susie Ibarra, Fred Frith and Mary Halvorson. - Bradley Bambarger
One of the most creative pianists in the downtown scene, and a long time collaborator of Mark Feldman, Ikue Mori and many others, Sylvie combines a brilliant technique with a wild imagination that straddles classical, jazz, improvisation and more. Featuring the dynamic rhythm section of Kenny Wollesen and Drew Gress, the music combines the best of improvisation and composition in the classic piano trio format. The dance productions "Little Joy", "Romeo, Romeo, Romeo" and "Kill Your Darlings" go on air Tour to Norway, Northern Germany, Croatia and Australia. Altogether about 25 Performances and 9 dance workshops are planned.

Klaus Johann Grobe is a duo of Zurich and Basel. Their third album "Du bist so symmetrisch" was released last October and the Swiss pop band has been playing concerts ever since, among others on 16 March in Oslo im Blå.
