Information for Swiss citizens currently in North Macedonia

Information about travel and entry to Switzerland

As of 26 June 2021 it is once again possible for citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia to enter Switzerland.

Detailed information about entry and stay in Switzerland is available on the website of the State Secretariat for Migration.

Important information

Persons traveling to Switzerland must take note of certain special rules and health-related measures if they travel to Switzerland. The website of the Federal Office of Public Health provides detailed information on this topic.

Persons arriving to Switzerland from North Macedonia by airplane need to fulfil one of the following conditions:

  • provide proof of a valid negative PCR-Test not older than 72 hours;
  • provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and the last vaccine was less than six months ago;
  • provide proof that they have recovered from Covid-19 in the past six months with a respective medical confirmation.

Children below the age 16 are exempt from the above mentioned conditions.

All travellers entering Switzerland by train, bus, boat or airplane have to fill out the entry form for incoming travellers.

As the official representation of Switzerland, the embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. Swiss Federal Tax Administration Warning


Fraudsters try on various occasions to obtain information concerning accounts and credit cards, as well as copies of taxpayers' passports by sending e-mails. These e-mails use false sender addresses. Consequently the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) has been improperly listed as the sender in several of these e-mails. The FTA is now issuing a warning not to respond to these e-mails or ones of a similar nature.

Any FTA claims are sent to taxpayers solely by letter and indicate the dossier number. The FTA never makes enquiries about taxpayers' confidential information via e-mail.

Should you receive fraudulent e-mails, please report this to the FTA and forward the e-mails to the following address: kommunikation@estv.admin.ch
