Energy Efficiency and Emission Reduction in the Parseta River Basin
This project is situated in in the region of the Parseta River Basin in north-western Poland. The basin is particularly precious for its unique flora and fauna, protected by a series of nature conservation sites along the river. This project aims at increasing energy efficiency and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases in the region. Theme/Focus Area
Environment and Infrastructure
Basic Infrastructure: Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Target Group
The direct beneficiaries are the municipalities owning the public buildings respectively the heating network to be upgraded in the course of this project. They will
particularly benefit from reduced energy costs due to more efficient heating systems and networks.
Indirect beneficiaries are the users of the public buildings, i.e. people who live, stay, work, learn, are medically treated or who recover there, etc. Context
The project's overall objective is to improve energy efficiency and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This will be achieved by introducing renewable energy sources and
by modernizing the heating sources and networks in a total of 62 public buildings located in as many as 24 towns and villages. It contributes to the implementation of the Polish government's energy
policy (particularly with regard to increasing the share of renewable energy in the national energy balance and reducing emissions).
Goals
The goal of the project is to improve health and living conditions for the whole population in the covered region and to improve environmental conditions, particularly
with regard to air quality, in the covered region.
