Development Programme in Dolina Strugu Micro-Region, Podkarpackie

The project aims at developing agriculture, ecological production and agrotourism of the Strugu Valley micro-region through the creation of an Institutional Incubator Centre, the provision of Internet access, trainings and grants for the creation of new SMEs.

Context
Climate and topographical conditions of Dolina Strugu (Strugu Valley) micro-region are ideal for agricultural and ecological production needs. Increasing market demand for healthy food creates good perspectives for the future of ecological production. Cooperation with "Chmielnik Zdrój" S.A. - the company that was created by "Dolina Strugu" Association enables wide market access for regional products. Quietness and peace of the region without industries compared with close vicinity of urban agglomerations and communication routes constitute big potential and ensure exceptionally good conditions for tourism development.
Goals
The project aims at a constant and sustainable development in living conditions of inhabitants of the Strugu Valley micro-region. The objectives are to promote and develop agriculture, ecological production and agrotourism, to increase the potential of young inhabitants through the improvement of educational offer, to stimulate the job market through the creation of new work places as well as to create and develop the social and business network in the area of the programme.
Activities
The project will finance: (i): Creation of an Institutional Incubator Centre with advisory and certifying functions for farms and SMEs along the whole food production and processing value chain and for agro-tourism; (ii): Creation of the School for Leaders for the formation of local leaders supposed to take over; (iii): Provision of free of charge access to Internet cafés with life-long learning opportunities (20 Inter-Clubs); (iv): Creation of a traditional bakery; (v): Creation of an ecological fruits processing plant; (vi): Creation of an ecological vegetable processing plant
Results
The expected results are:

  • 330 business entities supported
  • 100 new jobs created
  • 600 participants to life-long training
  • 1 new storage-warehouse created
  • 40 new local products in the market
  • 250 farms supported with advisory services and training by the Institutional Incubator Centre
