Context
Romania has shown a keen interest to make research one of the priorities of the future Swiss Contribution to the EU-enlargement. The scientific institutions in this
country have both need and interest to integrate more into the Western European research context. The Swiss Contribution will allow this through research partnerships between Romanian and Swiss
scientific institutions (Joint Research Projects).
Goals
The goal is the strengthening of both the Swiss and the Romanian research capacity. Outcomes are the advantages for the end users by the registered new patents and the
number of innovations/inventions regarding products, processes and methodologies.
Activities
First a call for proposals will be launched in early summer 2011. An evaluation panel will prepare the selection of proposals for the Steering Committee. The decisions
will be taken in spring 2012 after which the research partnerships will start their activities. The four thematic priorities are health (major diseases), impact of waste and pollutants on environment
and climate, sustainable energy, economic growth and social disparities.
