Academic Exchange: Partnership between Andrássy University Budapest and the University of St. Gallen
The project offers know-how in core areas of Swiss expertise through mobilizing Swiss professors to teach at the Andrássy University Budapest. In addition, the professors in residence will participate in research and in the management of the university, as well as participate in the strategic development of the curriculum and the reposition of Hungary. Context
Reforms for a knowledge-based economy are at the heart of the EU's Lisbon Agenda. Member states have the obligation to reform their higher education (HE) systems
accordingly. The new member states are dealing simultaneously with the transition-based reform process in HE. Modernisation of teaching curricula and increase of relevance of research results for
application are necessary, also with regard to the implementation of the Bologna reform in HE.

Strengthening the role of the Andrássy University Budapest (AUB) as a research centre in political science, law and economics, thereby strengthening Hungary's position as
a knowledge-based society and enhancing competitiveness of AUB graduates in job markets.
Specific objectives are the successful completion of research programmes, the transfer of CH-related know-how, enhanced teaching capacities at AUB and facilitated access to Swiss academic networks for AUB scholars and students. Activities
The project will offer 18-24 courses and block seminars for students taught by two Swiss professors in residence, as well as research input by the Swiss staff to the
Anrássy University Budapest (AUB) core research programme, both in core areas of Swiss expertise: democracy research, federalism, international humanitarian law and New Public Management. The
exchange professors will also assume management tasks, such as a deanship and they will participate in the reform and re-orientation exercise of the AUB. In addition, they will organise academic
events related to Switzerland and prepare an excursion to Switzerland for the students.
