Metrorex line 4 extension pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
Bucharest faces increasing difficulties in providing good quality transport for its citizens. Car numbers grew and continue to grow and therefore congestion, pollution and parking problems are increasing year by year. There is an urgent need for projects and substantial investments into the metro network. The project consists of the preparation of the pre-feasibility study (PFS) and the feasibility study (FS) for an important extension of the M4 metro line in Bucharest, between Gara de Nord and Gara Progresu. This planned extension includes 14 km of underground line with 14 stations, fixed installations and rolling stock at an estimated cost of over 1 billion Euro. It will link the city centre to the South of Bucharest, as well as two major railway stations. The studies are a necessary step to secure financing for this large infrastructure project.
