Renewable Energy Program in the Suski district
In the Suski district, private households account for an important share of environmentally harmful emissions. Some 60% of these emissions stem from coal based devices used by households for heating and domestic hot water production. Through the installation of solar systems, the project aims at improving air quality in valuable nature reserves by reducing emissions from mostly coal based water heating systems of private households and the regional hospital in the Suski district. Thema / Schwerpunktbereich
Umwelt und Infrastruktur
Basisinfrastruktur: Energieeffizienz und erneuerbare Energien Zielgruppe
The direct beneficiaries will be the district hospital in Sucha Beskidzka and private households within or in proximity of valuable nature reserves. Indirect
beneficiaries are the inhabitants of the wider area.
Kontext
The Suski district is home to an important variety of flora and fauna that is protected by five Natura 2000 sites. Since there are no significant industrial premises
located in the region, private households account for an important share of the overall polluting emission in the area. Due to dispersed settlements there are no central heating installations and
most households have coal based heating devices.
